John Ellis: PROJECTS

Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese philosophical concept closely related to but not exclusive to the Japanese Tea Ceremony (Chanoyu). This album will be released hopefully in 2004 as part of a trilogy of CDs based on Japanese culture and philosophy. I will be looking for a Japanese designer to collaborate on the artwork for all three CDs.

G.P.HALL

G.P.Hall is a remarkable guitarist who I met a couple of years ago when I saw him play at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. I did an interview with him for the sadly missed Strangled.

FAITH BAND

Paul Roberts (Vocalist of THE STRANGLERS) asked me to play guitar for a few shows to promote his solo album "FAITH".

I was very happy to have a chance to play Paul's excellent material.

A two-hour piece of words and music written by JUDGE SMITH which tells the true and extraordinary story of the 1924 Imperial Airship Scheme, a grandiose plan to link the colonies of the British Empire with a fleet of Zeppelins; a dream which ended with the destruction of the world's biggest airship, the giant dirigible R101, on its maiden voyage to India in 1930.

This project, which I worked on for over two years on and off, is now complete and available from curlysairships.com. It is one of the most remarkable pieces of music I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with.

THE NEW MASTER OF GO

This will be my next instrumental piece. Based on the beautiful Japanese boardgame which I studied many years ago. The music will be guitar based. I have written a film treatment based on the game of GO which I hope to develop this year.(2002)

As you'll have noticed, some of my intended projects have taken longer than I had hoped to come to fruition but they have certainly not been abandoned. Mostly these projects are held up by lack of cash. The need to pay the bills takes precedence and so until my fairy godmother waves her fiscal wand many things are on hold.

TrackRecords have released the first two Vibrators CDs with new packaging.
